Liverpool boss Arne Slot insists the shock 1-0 defeat to Plymouth was not down to work rate and says his side fought until the end despite not having a great day.

“It was a great game from Plymouth, the game plan was good too. They deserve all the credit for the performance. We didn’t have a great day and the result was what it was.” Slot told after the game

“I can’t say the boys didn’t fight because they played สมัคร UFABET วันนี้ รับเครดิตฟรีสำหรับสมาชิกใหม่ for about 100 minutes, both teams had no chances and the game was decided by penalties. In games like this, it’s all about the moment and that was theirs. They played well and deserved it.”

“I think (Liverpool players) can do better. Plymouth have a system and a way of playing that makes it difficult to create chances. They are very aggressive when we have the ball. We expected the players to do better but we have to give credit to Plymouth as well.”

Slot rested a number of key players on Sunday afternoon, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch and Mohamed Salah not even travelling to the south coast.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back from the defeat on Wednesday, where a win against local rivals Everton would see them move nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

“The players fought until the last second. It’s not a work rate issue. They worked very hard but couldn’t find any chances or gaps. We just have to keep doing the same thing with the same work rate.”

“It’s affected everyone involved at Liverpool, the fans, myself and the players. We all want to stay in the FA Cup and compete for as long as possible. It’s a defeat.”
